31st October 2004 - Ladies back on top following their 3 -0 win over Colchester United Reserves.

Match Report

 Colchester United Res           0       -        3       Bowers & Pitsea

Bowers & Pitsea ladies played top of the league Colchester United reserves in Division 1 of the Essex ladies league in a top of the table clash !

Straight from the kick off Bowers and Pitsea were surging forward trying to find the opener and had four good opportunities in the first 5 minutes.  In the 7th minute Bowers opened the scoring when a cross from Jayde Mullen on the left wing was headed on by Julie McLauchlan into the path of top goal scorer Vicci Pritchard who calmly slotted the ball into the corner of the net to make it 0-1 to Bowers.

Bowers continued to play really good football and could have gone further in front had it not been for the heroics of the Colchester United keeper who pulled of some outstanding saves to keep the score at 0-1 at half time.

The second half saw Colchester come out really strong trying to find the equaliser, but the Bowers back four were strong in the tackle letting no threat come through to the keeper.

Bowers started to take control of the game again and in the 62nd minute Vicci Pritchard picked the ball up in her only half and beat 3 defenders and with her back to goal she turned and hit the ball from 35 yards into the top left hand corner giving the keeper no chance to make it 0-2.

Laura Allen replaced the hard working Vicci Pritchard in the 70th minute and within 5 minutes of being on the pitch, Bowers scored a really well worked goal.  Starting from a throw out from keeper Ruth Bottomley to Tracey Child, who then played a superb ball down the right wing to the ever running Jo Taylor who beat the full back and played a delightful ball across the goal into the path of Laura Allen who slid to put the ball under the body of the on coming keeper to make it 0-3, and put this game out of reach of Colchester and sending Bowers to top of the league with six wins out of six.

The ladies are at home this weekend to Harlow Town, why  not come along and show you support for the team, kick off at 2.00pm.
